Contribution fees

Regular students who want to start at the School of Arts pay some contributions for the use of the studio materials and equipment for their study programme (this does not apply to exchange students). More information can be found on the site of the School of Arts.

Books, syllables and materials

Each faculty can give you an estimate of the costs of study materials for the programme you would like to apply for. In general, budgeting € 300 to € 500 for the purchase of books and syllables is advisable. Another € 100 for supplementary study materials during the course.

Meals

Our student restaurants serve daily breakfast, lunch and a wide range of snacks at affordable prices. Average lunch prices vary around € 4.60. Students in general budget about € 130 monthly for their meals, although this varies as eating habits differ per person.

Computer and software

In your daily activities you will need a computer. However, if you do not possess one, you can always use the ones available at the various libraries. Our online library services provide various software packages available for students via the secured VPN connection.

Special costs linked to software use

HOGENT students are offered all the necessary software via Academic Software. On this platform, students can find all the educational software needed to follow the programme and they are offered personal support in case of installation or start-up problems.

The annual fee for this software package is € 25. Additionally, some specific study programmes may charge extra software costs for specific applications.

Special costs linked to the programme (excl. software)

These are (limited) general costs associated with the training, for example copies in limited quantities, business gifts, maintenance of teaching material …
These costs are charged to all students per academic year, depending on the number of credits of the enrollment.

Bicycle

All students of HOGENT can apply for the rental of a bicycle at the organisation studentENmobiliteit vzw. Renting prices depend on the period and the model you would like to rent. For a comfort city bike you pay € 70 and this for a period of twelve months. If your bike needs maintenance or repairs, the university bike shops - which are scattered over the city - offer a selection of tools for you to use for free.
