International courses
One of the U!REKA target is to provide at least 1 course in every programme that is open for students for U!REKA-partners (and taught in English). This international focus broadens the perspective and viewpoint of the programme course and of HOGENT’s educational scope in general.
BIP, COIL, ...
U!REKA European University wants to provide international experiences in all programmes. Methods to achieve this are COILs (Collaborative Online International Learning) and BIPs (Blended Intensive Programme). U!REKA facilitates the organisation of such projects.
A successful case of a BIP is ‘Start locally, debate globally’, which involves students of different disciplines from HOGENT from the U!REKA-partners, as well as students from international partners from outside the U!REKA partnership.
Opportunities for own initiative: get to work on real challenges
The opportunities for the lecturer are undeniable. The U!REKA European University sets out outlines, but there is also plenty of room to develop own initiatives that fit within the U!REKA concept of sustainable and smart cities and respond to the needs of the students. Challenges introduced by full partners, associate partners and/or knowledge creating communities can be the starting point for a new learning path or course programme, which will lead to new teaching opportunities and insights and extend your international expertise.

European University Alliances are approved and funded by the European Commission through Erasmus+. This approval puts HOGENT in a select circle of 10 per cent of European higher education institutions that are part of such an Alliance.
