  Dutch version

HOGENT works towards traffic-safe, accessible and inclusive campuses and is strongly committed to sustainable mobility to, from and between its campuses and its surroundings. A clear vision on mobility and its translation into the HOGENT mobility plan, contribute to this.
However, the vision on mobility is not limited to physical mobility. In a society where working and learning are increasingly taking digital and hybrid forms, HOGENT is strongly committed to virtual mobility as well.

The current mobility policy was developed by the Mobility working group, a multidisciplinary team with representatives from the various entities within HOGENT, based on the preparatory work of the Mobility Council, data and (policy) plans from the City of Ghent and the Flemish government and advice from various consultants and experts.

The policy focuses on 5 strategic sub-objectives, each subdivided into operational objectives:

  1. Create accessible and traffic-safe campuses
    1. Draw up accessibility profiles for the campuses
    2. Take into account the mobility vision when redesigning campuses
    3. Increase traffic safety on campuses
    4. Encourage active mobility
    5. Provide traffic-safe mobility between campuses
  2. Ensure internal and external involvement
    1. Communicate about sustainable mobility (internally and externally)
    2. Consult users on sustainable mobility
    3. Sensitise students, staff, administrators and external stakeholders
