HOGENT wants to be an inclusive university of applied sciences and arts where everyone feels at home. For us, diversity is an enrichment and inclusion is an assignment for every one of us. That's why we are – both individually and collectively - responsible to ensure that everybody feels safe, respected and represented.

Inclusion policy
The current inclusion policy emerged from the Inclusion working group - a multidisciplinary team with representatives throughout different departments, research centres, offices, services and students - based on the input collected from internal experts and representatives from different stakeholders.
The policy focuses on 3 strategic subgoals which are themselves divided into operational goals:
- Provide internal and external support and engagement regarding to diversity, equal opportunities and inclusion.
- Sensitise students, employees, directors and external stakeholders
- Communicate diverse-sensitively
- Formulate concrete commitments and actions towards local and global environment.
- Embed diversity, equal opportunities and inclusion throughout our operations.
- Ensure broad physical, digital, financial and functional accessibility
- Organise both quantitative and qualitative monitoring of diversity, equal opportunities and inclusion and evaluate and adjust where necessary.
- Create a brave space where it is possible to act diverse-actively
- Create a space where every dialogue and proactive action is possible
- Educate students to become diverse-active
- Work on diverse-active professionalisation of staff
Do you have questions about the inclusion policy? Or do you have ideas and do you want to contribute to these goals? Contact the inclusion working group via inclusie@hogent.be.
