HIPE: Higher Education institutions for Prevention Science and Quality of Life Enhancement.
Over the next three years, the HIPE project will develop and implement a prevention curriculum for higher education institutions and NGOs.
The program focuses on preventive action around various forms of psychosocial risk behavior and strengthens the core competencies of (future) prevention workers.
Why HIPE?
Prevention initiatives already exist, but they are often fragmented by theme. HIPE addresses a gap: bringing together different forms of psychosocial behavior into a single training program. This is important because research increasingly shows that similar risk and protective factors play a role across different behaviors.
Various psychosocial behaviors in one curriculum.
The curriculum will be based on the scientific insights of the European Prevention Curriculum (EUPC) and will further refine these on topics such as mental well-being, violence, sexually transgressive behavior, gaming and gambling, and/or other addictive behaviors. It will strengthen competencies that are indispensable for future prevention workers.
Innovative and practice-oriented learning
The curriculum will apply innovative learning methods to make it easier to reach diverse student groups and (novice) prevention professionals. The project aims to bridge the gap between academia and the field by focusing on the concrete needs and expertise of the field, both locally, nationally, and internationally.
"Prevention may seem obvious, but effective prevention is anything but. Evidence exists - yet it is too rarely used. HIPE is about turning what we know into what we actually do."
