If you want to rent a student room in Ghent, our general advice is to start your search on the private market as early as possible, as the demand for student housing in Ghent exceeds the supply.
Rental price and deposit
Students can rent a room in a private student house. The average rental price of a student room in Ghent is 404 euros, while a studio costs on average 567 euros per month. Costs for water, electricity and heating are usually not included in these prices. Bed linen and towels are not provided by the landlord, cooking equipment is not always provided.
Keep in mind that you will be required to pay a deposit of two months rent when you start renting. The deposit will be refunded at the end of your rental agreement if you leave the room in its original state.

It also shows whether the room complies with safety and quality standards and whether the landlord is willing to use the model lease agreement.
