Virtual tour LocationConditions and priority rules

The route to
your HOGENT room.

You pay 400 euros deposit along with your first rental invoice. This sum will be refunded within three months of your departure, provided there is no damage.

You must insure your personal belongings yourself (usually through your parents' fire policy).

Conditions

Applicants must at the beginning of academic year:

  • be enrolled at HOGENT with a degree contract for a minimum of 27 credits
  • be eligible for child benefit or be under 25 years of age
  • have not yet exceeded the maximum duration of stay in a HOGENT residence. The maximum duration of a stay at a student residence is equal to the foreseen study duration of the standard graduate’s, bachelor’s or master’s programme upon the student's first enrolment at HOGENT, in every case extended by one academic year. Each academic year for which the student was previously enrolled at an institution of higher education is also taken into account when calculating the maximum duration indicated above.

You do not need to be enrolled at HOGENT at the time of application. The application is not binding. We do ask you to inform us by e-mail if the application may be dropped.

Priority rules

  • Students who already have a room will be given priority over new applicants as long as they have not exceeded the maximum duration of a stay in a HOGENT student residence.
  • Scholarship and near scholarship students are given priority over students who are not scholarship-eligible.
  • Generation students are given priority over students who have previously attended higher education.

Prevention students are committed residents who act quickly if an unsafe situation occurs, such as a fire, or an incident in which a fellow student is injured. They take part in evacuation drills, report any misconduct in the dorm, and represent the students of their floor at meetings with the Housing Department.

Become a prevention student and contribute to the safety of your residence!

Prevention students are sociable students with a sense of initiative and responsibility. We provide them with first aid training, a firefighting course at the firefighting school, and the necessary prevention material. In return for their commitment, they receive a flat-rate expense allowance of €125 per academic year. Twice a year, we also deposit €75 for mobile phone expenses.

Are you a candidate? Let us know before 1 September at huisvesting@hogent.be.
