As a nurse you will have to focus on the entire person, with his physical, psychological and social needs. Besides devoting a great deal of attention to training technical and communication skills, we also want you to develop an informed opinion as well as a positively critical attitude.
Skills
In the study programme, attention is paid both to you as a person and to the emotional aspects with which you are confronted during the training. You have to be a good judge of character, you have to be technically skilful and have sufficient knowledge and reasoning power to make the right decision at any time. Moreover, you will need some good social skills too.
Combination of theory and practice
Half of the study programme consists of theory, whereas the other half consists of work placements and clinical education. During your placements, you will be monitored personally by a placement supervisor who will come and work at your ward. The basic nursing skills will be taught during the first two years of your training. Work placements are organised at different wards of several hospitals.
